Wednesdays with WashU is a webinar series featuring members of the Washington University community. 

Join us for a conversation between Chancellor Andrew D. Martin, Maxine Clark, former Washington University trustee and chief inspirator at The Delmar DivINe and Keaira Anderson, MSW ’15, Delmar DivINe board member. The three will discuss the factors that brought them together to focus their time and talents on this St. Louis development and WashU's role in, with, and for St. Louis.

The Delmar DivINe is a social innovation, high impact real estate initiative that will set an example for community development, social improvement and collaboration in St. Louis and the nation.

About Keaira Anderson 

Keaira Anderson, MSW ’15, is a  St. Louis native. Wife. First-Time Mom. Licensed MO Real Estate Broker. She's intentionally committed to the service and growth of Black communities. Keaira is the former Executive Director of Cornerstone Community Development Corporation, a faith-based nonprofit providing affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income individuals and families smack dab in the middle of what many have come to know as the “Delmar Divide”. For the last two years, she had led organizational capacity activities for Cornerstone and a community development planning initiative for the West End neighborhood as one of only two nonprofit executives to receive funding from the regional equity initiative, InvestSTL. In addition to her work here, Keaira has served marginalized communities in San Jose, CA, Kansas City, MO, and East St. Louis, Illinois.  

 

About Maxine Clark

Maxine Clark is one of the true innovators in the retail industry. In 1997, she founded Build-A-Bear Workshop®, a teddy-bear themed retail entertainment experience. Today there are more than 500 Build-A-Bear Workshop stores worldwide. In June 2013, Maxine stepped down from her Chief Executive Bear role to apply her entrepreneurial skills to her passion for improving K-12 public education and encouraging and investing in women and minority entrepreneurs. In 2015, she began her journey to create the Delmar DivINe with her neighbors and partners. The Delmar Divine will open in Fall 2021.
