The WashU Bay Area Black Alumni Council invites you and your family to join us for an evening to celebrate and recognize Juneteenth. Doors open at 5 p.m. at Two Pitchers Brewing Company for a community gathering and refreshments, followed by a 7 p.m. screening of the powerful film The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. Dinner, snacks, and beverages can be purchased can be purchased on site.
The evening’s featured film tells the fictionalized yet deeply resonant story of a woman who lives through 110 years of American history, from slavery to the civil rights era. Her journey mirrors the ongoing fight for justice and liberation that Juneteenth represents and offers a powerful lens to examine our collective past and future.
This event serves as a moment to come together as a WashU community to honor history, engage in thoughtful dialogue, and celebrate community. All WashU alumni and friends are welcome to attend this special event!
