Please join Barbara Schaal, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and Mary-Dell Chilton Distinguished Professor, and WashU alumni and parents in this historic downtown venue for an interactive session on the educational and career paths, WashU experiences, and challenges and opportunities of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).  In 2016, WashU was named by Forbes as one of the most important STEM colleges for women; throughout the campus and in our alumni community, continuing to grow the support provided to women students and alumnae in these fields is a priority.  We hope you’ll join to share your perspectives and experiences.

More about Dean Schaal:
Barbara Schaal oversees all academic programs, financial operations, and the administration of Arts & Sciences at Washington University. In her scientific career, Schaal is an evolutionary biologist, widely known for her work on the genetics of plant species and the use of DNA sequences to understand evolutionary processes.  Schaal is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She was appointed as a U.S. science envoy by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and was a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) from 2009-17. She is a past president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
