More about the festival:
Arlene Martin and Sue Ann Huang first met in dance rehearsal at the eXit SPACE School of Dance in Green Lake, Seattle for the annual adult showcase, takePAUSE in 2013. Sharing in unique experiences truly began the journey of becoming "dance besties."  Individually, both Arlene and Sue Ann have experienced the dance community in Seattle and have often wondered why there did not seem to be many dancers of color present in the spaces they have been a part of.  In October 2016, after a dance class, the two happened to start talking about the need for the Seattle dance community to have more opportunities for dancers of color to be welcomed and intentionally included in more Seattle dance.  From there, the Tint Dance Festival was born.

The Tint Dance Festival seeks to raise the critical consciousness around racial and ethnic representation in the greater Seattle community so that artists and audiences will be inspired to dialogue about their own diverse experiences around identity.

More about Sue Ann Huang:
Sue Ann identifies as Chinese/Taiwanese American.  She grew up in the California Bay Area.  She has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and modern dance minor from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Miami University.  During her M.S., Sue Ann completed an independent study focused in Asian Americans in Education.  She currently works at Seattle University in Housing & Residence Life. and previously worked at the University of Washington in Housing & Food Services.  She has lived in Seattle since Summer 2011.  Sue Ann has been dancing since she was 6 years old and in Seattle since 2012. She wanted to produce this show because dance and social justice are some of her passions that she wanted to find a way for them to intersect.  This festival is that way and by providing more opportunities for dancers of color to have space to perform, more dancers of color will have representation in the Seattle dance scene.
