Join the WashU Chicago Network and the William Greenleaf Eliot Society for a special seminar series presentation at the home of Michael Richman, AB '84, and Harrison Parker. Designed by Richman, their home features a unique collection of limited edition prints by artists such as Joan Miró, Helen Frankenthaler, and Robert Mangold as well as sculptural furnishings by Jean Royère, Carlo Bugatti, and Pierre Jeanneret, among others. Meredith Malone, associate curator at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, will discuss the artists on view and strategies for beginning art collectors, as well as the history and highlights of the collection at the Kemper. Following the talk, we'll enjoy appetizers and drinks while taking in the spectacular sunset view of the city from this beautifully designed home at the top of the Four Seasons Residences building.

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska Michael graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in architecture. He took graduate courses at the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Barcelona. He practiced as an architect and interior designer working for noted architecture and contract design firms Holabird and Root and ISD Incorporated (respectively). He then served as director of design for Arlene Semel and Associates before opening his namesake firm.
Drawing from his own experiences, travels and insight, Richman continually hones his skill as an architect and designer and is always aware of the latest products and advancements which he brings to his clients. Bringing one of a kind solutions to each and every project, Michael listens to the client and creates a transformative vision that captures the values and aspirations of each client. Michael oversees each and every project from preliminary design schemes to detailed floor plans, architectural design and selections to finished spaces. Taking a very personal and individual approach to each project, much of the inspiration comes from the client, making for a truly collaborative process.
Since its inception in 1998, the firm has enjoyed great success and recognition with work featured in such publications as Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Luxe Interiors + Design and Modern Luxury Interiors. His work has also been published in books including Majestic Metropolitan City Living and House Beautiful: Colors for Your Home. Richman is currently working on a monograph of his work.
About the Speaker:
Meredith Malone is associate curator at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis. A specialist in post-World War II art practices in Europe and the United States, she has authored several catalogs and curated numerous exhibitions including, Kader Attia: Reason’s Oxymorons (2017); To See Without Being Seen: Contemporary Art and Drone Warfare (2016) Tomás Saraceno: Cloud-Specific (2011); and Chance Aesthetics (2009). She is currently working on the first English-language study of Edition MAT and Daniel Spoerri’s pioneering role in the history of kinetic art and the production of multiples. Malone holds a PhD and an MA in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Art History from the George Washington University.
