Bear Club

Wondering what to do with your kiddos during the Welcome Reception on Friday or your Class Party on Saturday? Our Bear Club child care program keeps kids ages 0-17 safe and entertained while you enjoy your reunion event. Enjoy catching up with classmates knowing your children are being cared for by professionally screened, vetted, vaccinated, and trained Jovie caregivers. 

Bear Club is available on Friday, April 14th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 15th from 6-11:15 p.m.

Bear Club - Friday

Friday, April 14 | 5:30-8:30 p.m. | Friday Bear Club

The evening's theme, "Arggg We Are Pirates," is sure to be a hit! Kids will experience a treasure chest of pirate speak, pirate craftivities, and movement activities of swabbing the deck, walking the plank, and so much more! Older participants can hang out in the "fun zone", where they will enjoy playing pool, foosball, and a variety of other games and multimedia systems. Special snacks and meals are included. The evening's theme, "Super Hero Training," is sure to be a hit! Kids will create their own superheroes and test their powers, including "web-slinging, wall-crashing, super selfies, costume creation, and capturing villains! Older participants can hang out in the "fun zone", where they will enjoy playing pool, foosball, and a variety of other games and multimedia systems. Special snacks and meals are included. The McKelvey Emerging Leader Award honors young engineering alumni who exemplify leadership and service through scientific excellence and innovation. This award highlights the positive impact alumni make on their local community, country, and the world.

Friday, April 14 | 2-5:30 p.m. | St. Louis Microbrewery Tour

Join alumni and friends for a tour of three St. Louis microbreweries: Rockwell Beer Co., Bluewood Brewing, and 2nd Shift Brewing. Your personal tour guide will describe each brewery, provide tasting suggestions, and share historic and fun facts about St. Louis. You will spend approximately 45 minutes at each stop and receive a token redeemable for one full pour of draft beer at each location. Growlers from each brewery will be available for purchase to enjoy at home. This tour is facilitated by BrewHop STL.

Friday, April 14 | 3-5 p.m. | Environment Sustainability and Climate Change Open House

Alumni with an interest in environmental, sustainability, and climate change issues are invited to connect, reconnect, and network with one another and with faculty, staff, and students. The Open House is located in the new Schnuck Pavilion, one of the university's eight LEED Platinum buildings. The event is largely and informal gathering and will include very brief remarks about the university's teaching, research, operations, and community impact. Refreshments will be served.

Join the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship for an entrepreneurship networking event. All innovators are welcome, including community members, alumni, current students, investors, and people seeking advice about the startup industry. Those interested in learning more about entrepreneurship at WashU also are welcome to attend.

Bring your appetite and sample some of STL’s favorite foods in the South Grand Neighborhood. This area is known for its international eateries, vintage shops, and historic architecture. During this tour, you will have a chance to experience at least three locally owned restaurants, shop, and have your personal tour guide share information about historic and current updates to South Grand. Restaurants could include Steve's Hot Dogs, Terror Tacos, Salve Osteria, and the Vine (note: final locations will be shared prior to tour). Alcohol may be individually purchased. This tour is facilitated by Savor St. Louis Food Tour.

From historical highlights (the Arch!) to hidden gems throughout both north and south St. Louis, explore our beautiful city and interesting neighborhoods such as Carondelet and Dutchtown. In partnership with the Missouri Historical Society, your personal tour guide will lead you in a unique look at our architecture, history, and thriving communities—all from the comfort of a shuttle.

Saturday, April 15 | 9-11:30 a.m. | The Hill: Walking Neighborhood Tour

Explore St. Louis’s famous the Hill neighborhood through this private walking tour. In partnership with the Missouri Historical Society, learn more about the people who called the area home before the Northern Italians arrived, find hidden pieces of history, and experience the entrepreneurial energy that fuels The Hill’s success today. Like so many other St. Louis neighborhoods, this area's history is a complicated mix of tradition and bigger social forces at play.

The last three years have posed challenges and adversity unlike anything we have ever seen. As trying as the pandemic and its aftermath have been, there are opportunities to extract meaning in ways that allow us to emerge event stronger. This presentation by WashU faculty, Tim Bono, will offer strategies rooted in positive psychology for emerging from hardship (be it COVID or otherwise) in ways that promote a sense of psychological health, well-being...and yes, even happiness.

Learn about the university’s efforts to conserve biodiversity and sustain life on earth from Jonathan Losos, the William H. Danforth Distinguished Professor and director of the Living Earth Collaborative. In January 2018, the Living Earth Collaborative formed as a unique partnership between a leading university, a top zoo, and a world-class botanical garden. Washington University, the St. Louis Zoo, and Missouri Botanical Garden are collaborating to advance research, conservation, and education about the animals, plants, and microbes that populate our shared planet.

This 8,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art glass facility will give you and your classmates the opportunity to see a glass demonstration, purchase local pieces, and catch up with one another. One lucky classmate will be able to take home a glass piece that will be created during the glassblowing demonstration.

Reunion Giving

Many Reunion celebrants give in appreciation of their WashU experience. Others give in the spirit of friendly competition with other celebrating classes. All give to support current and future WashU students.

Tuition revenue covers only 60% of the cost of providing a WashU education. Reunion Class Gifts and other annual fund gifts help cover the remainder in the form of scholarships, research funding, faculty support, facilities improvements, and much more. 




All contributions made between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, will count toward your Class Gift, and the total amount of a five-year pledge will be included.
