Class Gift Information

Welcome back for your 45th reunion, Class of 1980!

Reunion is a special time to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate with your classmates. It is also a wonderful time to continue the longstanding tradition of giving back in honor of your time on campus. Your gift of any amount to any area of the university is a meaningful way to commemorate your time at Washington University.

In celebration of your 45th reunion, your classmate, Peter Young, BS ’80, has made an incredible $200,000 gift to support WashU research in areas that deeply resonate with him. Over the past decade, Peter and his wife, Lin Young, have profoundly impacted WashU through their dedicated support of international experiences for undergraduate students, particularly in Hong Kong and China. Their commitment extends to the Annual Fund and student scholarships, embodying a deep belief in fostering global understanding and academic excellence. In recognition of their generosity, the university named the Young Archway in honor of their contributions to the McKelvey School of Engineering. This past year, Peter was honored with the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award for his outstanding contributions to both academia and global education initiatives.

Peter's philanthropy is an extraordinary source of inspiration for his class and beyond. Inspired by his leadership, we challenge the Class of 1980 to achieve new heights in philanthropy, aiming for 45 Eliot Society leadership gifts of $1,000 or more. Will you join us in continuing Peter's legacy of impact?
