Class Gift Information

Welcome back for your 35th reunion, Class of 1989!

Reunion is a special time to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate with your classmates. It is also a wonderful time to continue the longstanding tradition of giving back in honor of your time on campus. Your gift of any amount to any area of the university is a meaningful way to commemorate your time at Washington University.

Not sure where you want to designate your gift? Browse areas of support and choose the school, scholarship, or program that is most significant to you.

Class Challenge Information

Your classmate Michael Kumar (AB '89) has made a generous commitment to the university as a challenge to his classmates from the class of 1989.  He will match dollar for dollar every renewed gift and will match 2:1 for increased gifts and multi-year pledges up to the total of his gift of $1,000,000.

What were some of your favorite experiences on campus?

1. WILD concerts

2. Thurtene Carnival

3. Thursdays at the “Rat”

4. Painting the underpass

5. Intramural sports

What is a memory from your time on campus?

One of my fondest memories is sitting in a senior level economics class with Professor Hyman Minsky, and he started talking about baseball (he loved baseball). He explained that baseball was a game of “27 outs,” whichever team got there first would win. This is a quote I have used several times with both my son (who is a competitive high school player) and with colleagues to explain the importance of minimizing errors.
